D1 Softball Top 25- Week Five

March 12, 2024

After one week out of the top spot, Oklahoma returns to No. 1 in the D1Softball Top 25 poll.

The Sooners began Big 12 play 3-0 with a series sweep over Iowa State. LSU moves to No. 2 after a sweep of their own, on the road against Kentucky. The Tigers are still the last undefeated team in the nation.

Former No. 1 Texas falls to No. 3 after opening Big 12 play with a loss to Houston. The Longhorns did rebound with a road series win against the Cougars, but slide in the poll after the inaugural defeat.

Texas A&M was the biggest mover of the week, rising six spots to No. 17 in this week’s poll. The Aggies went 4-0 in week five, including a series sweep over South Carolina in College Station, to move to 23-2 on the year and an undefeated start to SEC play.

All is well and hearty in the state of Texas; Texas State joins the poll at No. 25 after a 3-0 showing and a weekend sweep over Penn State in San Marcos. The Bobcats are 19-6 and will begin Sun Belt play in week six.
